Common Questions

What kind of paint do you use?

We use only the best quality paint brands which offer various quality guarantees. Our preferred paint suppliers are Plascon, Dulux, Dekade Paints and Paintsmiths, although will be happy to use a product you might prefer.

Can I supply my own paint?

Yes you can. However, we have negotiated substantial trade discounts with most of the paint suppliers – which we pass on to our customers to offset against the cost of our highly skilled labour.  It therefore normally doesn’t work out to be cost effective to supply your own paint.  King Painters will also supply some free sample pots of the colours you like to ensure that the best colour choice.

What do I need to do to prepare my home for painting?

Nothing – we have exceptional staff who will carefully clear rooms, move furniture and remove wall hangings. They will carry out any necessary preparation and cleaning.  However, if you would prefer to remove fragile items or clear rooms yourself, you are most welcome to do so as this does help to speed up the contract duration.  We understand that your house is important to you and we will treat it with the utmost respect, covering furnishings, protecting surfaces and cleaning up at the end of each day. We will also work with you to ensure minimal disruption to your daily life.

Do I need to be present while you paint?

This is up to you. We are accustomed to working in homes where clients are at work all day and also where they are at home. We only employ permanent staff members who have been vetted prior to employment for your safety.  The staff are all registered with Workman’s Compensation. The company is also covered by Public Liability Insurance and Worker’s All Risk insurance for that extra peace of mind.

How do I choose the paint colours?

As experts in the latest colour trends, we will happily recommend various colour options to best suit your space, furnishings and distinctive style. We are able to supply some free colour samples, to ensure you make the right choice.

What guarantees do you offer?

We offer a minimum of 1 year guarantee on our workmanship, in addition to the product guarantees which the paint companies offer on their various products.

Do I pay upfront?

No – we do not usually require a deposit and full payment will be on completion of the work carried out. However, on some larger jobs, we will require a deposit and progress payments,  should the contract stretch over a long periods of time.  This will be clearly outlined in the quotation.

Does your quote include everything?

Our quotations will include all labour, material, and sundry costs as per your specification of work required. We are VAT registered so VAT will be added to our quoted amounts upon invoicing. If you require additional work not quoted on, we will be happy to discuss options to fulfil these requirements.

Can you quote over the phone?

No we can’t. Surfaces to be painted differ considerably and require different preparation and primers prior to applying top coats.  To ensure accurate and best pricing for quotes, we will be happy to come out to look, advise, and measure the necessary areas required.

Do you use your own employees or do you sub-contract your work?

We have permanently employed staff members who are well-trained and trustworthy and are all registered with Workmen’s Compensation. If you require a quotation on work which King Painters does not specialise in and that we feel will be better carried out by an experienced sub-contractor, we will discuss options with you. We only sub-contract to reputable suppliers whom we have a good working relationship with.
